Save your fancy dinners for the 14th! Join us at the Industrial History Center on Valentine’s eve, for a low-key evening of games and good company. Ticket price includes bingo, bonus trivia rounds, and tasty snacks. A cash bar serving beer and wine will be available. While you’re here, check out the latest carriages on display.
While we plan to offer up some fun mystery items throughout the evening, the purpose of these games is to entertain. Please note that no cash prizes will be awarded for bingo.

Join former Boston City Archivist John McColgan as he presents his research on the Irish Famine and its connection to the experiences of immigrants who arrived on Deer Island in Boston. McColgan will illuminate this significant chapter of history, followed by an open discussion exploring its enduring consequences. This event offers an opportunity for thoughtful dialogue and reflection on a transformative moment in Irish and New England history.

Botanical gel printing uses natural plant materials, like leaves and flowers, pressed onto a gel plate covered with acrylic paint. The resulting prints capture the delicate details of the botanical elements. In this class led by local artist Bonnie Brady, you will learn three techniques to produce fool-proof works of art.
Appropriate for beginner to intermediate levels. All materials are provided.

Learn the traditional techniques of paper making, from creating your pulp to pressing and drying your sheets. Tina Rawson, Swedish Artist, and Contemporary Impressionist Painter will show you how to make a basic kurbits scroll, the key element of Swedish Folk Art from the 1700s, and tell you how it became so important.
Kurbits is a Swedish folk art style characterized by colorful and elaborate paintings of plants, animals, and landscapes, as well as depictions of everyday life and scenes from the bible. She will share the history of Swedish kurbits with all its twists and turns!" (www.tinarawsonart.com)

Introducing our pilot program of exclusive members only offerings! January’s exclusive is an evening social hour centered around collections. Staff will choose a few items which may include objects, archives and photographs. Enjoy a brief presentation and spend the remainder of the event perusing the display and using the items as a focal point for discussion.

Botanical Eco Printing with Cheryl Desjardin
Experience the fascinating process of capturing the beauty of natural plant material on silk. In this workshop, led by Cheryl Desjardin, Textile Artist and Natural Dyer, you’ll create your own beautiful silk scarf to take home.
Ages 16+

A handmade creation is a wonderful way to show appreciation for your family and friends during the holiday season. In this workshop, led by local artist, Bonnie Brady, we’ll craft up to ten 5" x 7" notecards using three unique designs, each made with beautiful decorative papers! You’ll also get to take home extra materials to continue making cards on your own.
No experience is needed to join. This workshop is suitable for teens and adults.

Meet at Lowell’s Boat Shop at 5 PM for an hour of rowing up the Merrimack to the Powow River in a classic dory.
Walk from the Lower Millyard landing to nearby Industrial History Center (10-minute walk).

Conclude the evening at 8:30 PM with a scenic drive back to Lowell’s Boat Shop in a vintage car.
